Once your body burns fat as its primary fuel, even if you are only getting 1000 calories of food per day, you still have access to thousands of calories in your fat cells.
A low calorie, high carb diet will put your body in starvation mode; you won't have enough calories and your insulin levels “will block the burning of fat”.
Eating fat is important for multiple reasons:
