Fat hostility and Statin dependence in U.K
Hi my name is Martin and I am from the U.K, I happened upon this diet quite by accident (I have yet to start it as I have just purchased the book)! as my GP has been trying to get me on statins and a low fat diet but I refused having serious doubts about the statins and the low fat diet, however my wife gave in to our GP or MD as you would say over the pond, and I have seen her gradually get weaker and more tired over the months she has been on the statins! Several years ago I weighed over 230 pounds on an 5ft 11inch frame and came across the Atkins diet, and had great success and lost over 24 pounds in six weeks and I felt much better, however all the furore surrounding the diet and its bad fats meant I slowly returned to my sugar addiction! So here I am, almost back to square one, I am reluctant to even ask my GP for a blood test for Leptin resistance! So me and my wife are going to start the the Rosedale diet shortly once I can source the weird stuff or equivalents you folks get over there! The reason I found this diet was because of this concern I had, a question in my mind that I googled and that was "is there a higher risk of stroke in those that take statins?" The results confirmed my suspicions and they took me to DR Mercola's site which in turn lead me to DR Ron, It is amazing how negative us Brits can be with anything from America! I read the testimonials on Amazon U.S and there were lots of good positive responses to the diet, however on the U.K site there were only three and all were negative!! Make my own mind up thanks, wish us well for the first phase.
Regards
Martin + Jayne.

Martin & Jayne
I believe you will find Dr. Ron's Health Plan Awesome
• I am 63yrs old and started the Health Plan June 2012
• I am 5' 10'' tall
• My beginning weight was 232 lbs - now at 168 lbs = a 64 lb loss
• There has been no struggle to lose the weight at all.
• I know what you mean by doctors wanting you on all those meds, I struggled for over 20 years with that.
• I was on 6 daily meds for high blood pressure and 3 daily meds and 1 daily injection for my Type2 diabetes
• My health was failing and I was getting no where fast
• At present I am off all meds and injection
See image below...
Wishing you & Jayne the best

Dear Martin and Jayne,
Welcome! I am actually a Brit as well and have been working with Dr. Rosedale for about 5 years, all over the world. I have to say the hardest time we have is with the Brits! They seem very parcial to their drugs. The UK diabetes society participants are FIECE to make sure they keep taking their drugs, verses just changing their diet and getting off the drugs. Dr. Ron and I were very active there giving lots of free advice with the UK diabetes organization as Dr. Ron for 20 years has reversed type II with just diet and supplements, they even studied and published a paper about his patients. I was so shocked they actually called us charlatans for even suggesting such a terrible idea as changing their diet. The proof is in the pudding (pardon the pun), if they just ate a Rosedale breakfast and measured the blood sugar they would see it works, and taking their medications to lower their blood sugar would not be needed. I have never met a country as resistant as my own in accepting that the health care system is not all it is cut out to be. Emergency care is outstanding but 'standard of care' is all about profit not health care.
I would strongly advise you listen and read some of the articles on our blog page, www.drrosedale.com/blog about cholesterol, cholesterol is not the villan at all.
It works, I have seen it change lives in so many people and in so many countries. Try it, do it 1005 for just 3 weeks and you will see it first hand for your self. I have been eating this way for 5 years and would never give it up. Ken, (thank Ken for your support) is doing wonderful, but he results are just like so many others.
Wishing you both all the best of Health.

Hi Fiona, thanks for the reply, yes I am not surprised by your findings at all, we are truly under the spell of our G.P's especially the die hard older generation G.P's particularly our own, very finger wagging concerning my refusal to touch statins and told me quite matter of factly I was going to have an heart attack if I didn't! In fact I no longer have regular blood tests anymore because of my refusal to have them. Mind you though there are a few younger more open minded doc's here but they are few and far between! But not at our practice.
My wife has asked me to ask a question, she is bipolar and is currently on Lithium and Carbamazepine, what effect if any would this diet have on her condition or medication? I would advise her to speak to our G.P but one already knows the answer.
Best Regards
Martin & Jayne

Dear Martin & Jayne,
I am drug free since 16-January 2010, I am no more a NIDDM, and heart disease. The diabetes neuropathy took 9 months to clear. I used to be 63 kilo +/- age 62, 5' 3". Now I maintained it around 48 kilo gross. My fat is no more than 5 percent.
Yes, the The Rosedale Diet is truly what you need. Be discipline, don't cheat for the first 3 - 4 weeks and you will see the results fast.

Hi Alan, thanks for the encouragement, another impressive achievement! I am glad you have found health with Dr Ron's diet.
I let a professor friend of mine review Dr Ron,s book, she is a professor in physiotherapy and dietetics "Curriculum evaluation and quality management in higher education
Impact of study at masters level
Latroplacebogenesis".
She wasn't too impressed I have to say with Dr Ron's 2004 print of his book and cited a number of flaws with his hypotheses and quotations in reference to animal studies which since have been refuted, and she was quite horrified at some of his advise! And the fact that the research is ten years out of date, i hope that Dr Ron's book he is working on has more research to back his theories up? However with results like the ones posted above I have reservations on my professor friends open mindedness? Even though I respect her greatly.

Hi Martin & Jayne,
Lots of phDs, CONventional doctors knows nothing about nutritions. Forget about them. Follow Dr. Rosedale Diet. It's Mother Nature diet. Also, remember Hippocrates..."Let Food Be Thy Medicine"...as long as "First Do No Harm". That's what Dr Ron & his dedicated teams are doing...going back to Mother Nature's food...and from the peer reviewed researches to "trick" Mother Nature to eat a diet that will sustains our body in the Maintenance & Repair mode...not in the reproduction mode. It doesn't matter if it's an "old Book". We shouldn't mess around with Mother Nature.
Don't ever, ever cheat in the first 3 - 4 weeks. Stick to Ron's diet. Use lots of good & healthy fats (coconut, palm oils & those in the book) ; eggs, fish & chicken; fiber carbs; nuts & 99% cocoa chocolate; organic cocoa & coffee (once a day & then I burnt it off by doing a brisk walk), lime water (pH neutraliser) & spring water; very low carb crisp bread like WASA Fibre; stevia powder for flavour, avocados, good condiments, vinegar, good salt/sauce, etc. Don't forget the supplements & daily exercises after meals and do the pre & post tests to see the results. You will be amazed.
I used to tell my friends to give Ron's diet a try. If it works (which is amazing!) please continue MINUS the LEGAL DRUGS. If it doesn't work, go back to your symptomatic treatment$$$ & side effect$$$$$ with the drug$$$$$$$$. You now have an Alternative Integrative Medicine vs Drugs. Your choice?
A popular quote from Dr. Joseph Mercola: Failing to Plan? You're Planning to Fail.
I wish you and your dear Jayne all the very success.
With all my metta (Loving Kindness & Selfless Love),
B'Well, B'Healthy, B'Happy......Alan

I hear ya Alan, conventional thinking won't put me off; I did the Atkins diet against her better advice and lost 2 stones in weight after six weeks and never felt better, only problem I am having is sourcing the foods in the good doctor's book, a lot of which you can't get here in blighty! What we need is a British version of his book! :) Thanks for the encouragement, although I would like to make it clear however that I am not on any meds nor are we suffering from diabetes, I am concerned at the route my current/old diet is taking us with my GP advising that dreaded drug route and bad diet advice. We have been on Dr Ron's diet in a semi fashion (lots of fish, green veg and krill oil supplement) and I have already lost half a stone! Wishing you continued health Alan, and thanks.

I heard on the radio that the National Institute for Clinical Excellence or N.I.C.E here in the U.K are advising people who are on drugs for heart disease or statins can cut "down" on eating oily fish!!! Is this insanity from our so called health professionals? They say that because of these drugs effectiveness now they don't need to eat nearly as much fish, I can't believe this country sometimes.

Martin,
That mindset is shown here in my area - the PUSH for meds is sickening.
My doc says that he is amazed at how my health has improved over this past year, yet even though the 6 daily meds he had me on for my BP was NOT accomplishing anything, he still wanted me to take 5mg of one of those still just in case my BP goes up - I tell ya, one is treated as though they're an idiot. I must admit that I am naive in many areas BUT I am not totally brain dead.
I am keenly aware that there are Perks to be had for writing scripts and for the clinic admins as well. Patient health is secondary for so many
Hope everything is well with you
Ken

Hi Ken,
Nice to hear from you.
Yep I am afraid it is a fact that those with less knowledge about these things are going to suffer in the end. But you know the experts are firmly entrenched in the belief that drugs are the answer even when the evidence is before them like yourself! I'm afraid the "experts" will always have one eyebrow raised whilst looking down their noses at us poor uneducated individuals.
Lost a stone in weight now, I'm down to 13 from 14 and the wife has lost half a stone to 8! Another one to go and thats my weight sorted.
Keep well Ken
Mart

Dear Martin, Jane, Ken & Fiona,
It's me from Malaysia and it's now slightly less than 5 1/2 years that I have followed Dr. R.Rosedale Diet. I go to India for my annual CBC esp. for leptin and insulin. I am healthy and passionate about Dr's diet. I'm now a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Took NTP with NTA. I am setting up my in-house operation to counsel clients specializing in weight management; diabetes; hi-blood pressure & CVD all in accordance to Dr. Ron's diet.
Thank you Doc, Fiona for your guidances.
