It has bee recorded that Angus Barbieri holds the world record for fasting (382 days). The report for this fast can be found here:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2495396/pdf/postmedj003...
After losing a tremendous amount of weight (fat) there were no detrimental effects including muscle loss.
Since he did not have any protein during the 382 days and the Rosedale diet mimics a fast, why do we need to take in protein on the diet.
As I understand the reason for not requiring protein during fasting is that since there is no protein as a nutrient mTor is down regulated and autophagy repairs and maintains the tissues without requiring additional amino acids. If this is correct, as I understand, the Rosedale Diet does the same.
Are these correct assumptions?

fhutttag:drrosedale.tenderapp.com,2010-09-16:Comment/466526812018-12-11T23:17:50Z2018-12-11T23:17:50ZProtein requirement on the diet.

Hi fhutt

Dr. Rosedale may at some point comment on your question, perhaps when things slow down for him.
