Pregnancy
Hi Doctor Rosedale.
I am being told that a low carb lifestyle is not healthy while
pregnant. I want to make sure I am doing what is best for me and my
baby now. Is there a reason that you feel a woman should boost
carbs during pregnancy? Does your answer change if the woman has
only been low carb for 3 or 4 months prior to pregnancy.
I know you are busy, thank you in advance for any info you can
give.
Laura

Dear Laura,
Congratulations on your plans for your family. Dr. Ron is out of the office right now but I know he is very passionate about women pre, during and post pregnancy following the diet as it is so very important for the baby, and setting the babies healthy future. As soon as he gets back to the office I will have him write you a note as well. Very excited that you are doing your research to find out what is best ahead of time.
Best of health,
Fiona

No, my answer does not change. Non fiber carbohydrates are non essential nutrient. While pregnant also taking B12, folic acid, and omega 3 fatty acids are are very good for the developing brain.

No, eating nuts will not cause your child to be allergic to nuts. Remember, peanuts are not a nut and best to be avoided.
