Whenever I've taken alpha-lipoic acid, my urine smells like a skunk! I've tried several different brands, with the same result. Is this normal?

Very interesting. I have been using alpha-lipoic-acid for 9 months wihout any such problems as I recall it.

ALA is a potenet antioxidant but also a metal chelator that removes them from the liver and brain. Could it be the chelation effect you are noticing?

MSM works also this way since both contains organic sulphur.

I meant a heavy metal chelator but also many environment chemicals. Mercury and other nasty stuff.

I think you're onto something here - I had a test done in 2005 that showed
high cadmium, & very high lead. I started some IV treatments but didn't
finish the entire series. So, I'm going to resume the Alpha-lipoic acid &
hope it all gets taken care of eventually.

Try cilantro it also removes toxins and is the only herb known to do so. All over the internet.

Eventually, the heavy metals will vanish from the body with ALA/MSM and the liver will become healthier as well as the rest of the body.
