Why does Dr. Rosedale recommends opting out for nuts rather than seeds? What are the examples of low carb low protein snacks other than nuts or avocados?

The greatest percentage (by far) of oils in most nuts is omega 9 monounsaturated fatty acids, similar to olive oil. This is also why we prefer nuts over seeds as seeds have a much higher percentage of omega 6 as to nuts. Nuts are a very nutrient dense food and therefore quite desirable, though if I had to design my own food I would put less omega six in there. Also the w6:w3 is important, and that is why we recommend supplemental fish or other good source of omega-3 oil.

Thank you very much for your input. For some reason I have the hardest time eating 5-8 nuts at a time for snack. They cause me to have binge (after meal is OK, but not for snack by themselves). If I was a little bit hungry before the nut snack, I'll be REALLY hungry after I ate 5-8 nuts. Have you heard of other people having the same issues? Why is it happening and what can I do about it? (I am not prone to binge behavior, so it is clearly nuts doing it). It seems to be really hard to eat low carb adequate protein smaller meals with snacks inbetween diet if I do not include nuts in the mix.

I hear you, if I am hungry I have a hard time stopping at 10 for sure. Keeping other things around that are grab and go is a great idea, like boiled eggs, an avocado, almond muffins.. (which are very filling), a treat to have some berries and sour cream, a low carb wrap, just even half of one to dip with some egg salad or cream cheese. I find that I am just never that sickly starving that I had before my low carb life. I eat when I am hungry, but it does not take much to feel satiated. If the nuts bring on a craving nature in you, then I would for sure keep clear and have other things around.

    Great ideas for snacks. Thanks!
I also have another question. I compared dried unsweetened coconut meat
fats with macadamia nuts fat and saw that while macadamia nuts have only12g
saturated fat and 60g monounsaturated fat per 100g serving, coconut has 57g
saturated fat and less that 3g monounsaturated fat per 100g serving. Can
you please explain to me why is coconut meat and coconut oil are regarded
    as such a health food?

The saturated fat in coconut oil is high in medium chain triglycerides.
