Walnuts and Omega-6
Now that I've started using the Rosedale diet I've been studying up on fats and am a little concerned about polyunsaturated fats and my Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio. Walnuts are often recommended for high fat diets but they very high in Omega-6, as high as other 'bad' nuts, seeds and oils. Yes it does have Omega-3 as well, but it is ALA which doesn't convert well. Should I be limiting my walnut intake or am I being overly cautious?

Hi Charles, perhaps a bit too cautious but would be watchful about your protein limit. One must count/include the protein from nuts in their daily intake. It is easy to grab a handful of nuts and have them ate before realizing it.
Are you using Dr. Rosedale's Book

Thanks, Ken!
Yes, I do have the book. My protein limit is 90g per day based on the calculation from the book which gives me some room. With Omega-3's being so hard to get and Omega-6's being so plentiful I wanted to have some form of balance. I plan to start supplementing with Cod Liver Oil which should help.

Hi Charles, you must be a pretty big guy, that is a lot of protein.
Are you large framed, tall or a body builder?
Do you have a certain body weight goal?

Thanks again, Ken.
I must have been doing the calculation wrong. I was doing my body weight divided by two plus 10 g since I do lift weights 4-5 times a week. 70g is probably more appropriate based on this chart and closer to what I'm actually eating in a given day.
