Hi and thank you!
I've been reading and researching a lot lately regarding statins. I take Lipitor but want to stop taking it after all that I've read.. I will of course talk to my doctor etc. but she isn't going to agree with me. So far though in all that I've read, I haven't seen any reference to family history regarding heart disease, high cholesterol etc. Both parents had triple bypass surgery. (Granted they ate bad over the years, dad smoked but stopped) I really want to stop taking Lipitor but now I'm afraid to but also think smart enough to know I must stop taking it. I'm 55, not over weight, have in the past ate most everyday sweets, breads etc. I have stopped I'd say about 80% and following mostly a Paleo diet. My grandmother died from Diabetes (granted back then they didn't know what they know today). My aunt is on insulin for Diabetes and now my mother has it. I DO NOT WANT IT. And I don't want heart disease.
So bottom line; how much does family history play into whether or not I should stop taking Lipitor? I think I've been taking it for 5 years. Thank you!!!
