Question
Hi Dr. Roseldale,
First, I wish apologize myself for my English very badly. I'm speaking french it's for that.
First of all, I learn about your diet since a couple of day by a friend of my who is Doctor. All that you say in your website looks like good and interesting.
Since this moment I read a lot and I get a answer for you.
In your website, in the part of FAQs, its writed that is better to take supplements in the diet. I dont understand why. If the diet it's goog and perfectly balance why we should take supplement. Normaly, a good diet is supposed to be perfectly balance in vitamin. For me, supplement are not good for the health and it's another way for the bussiness to make money. Make me feel scare and undecided to stard it only for this reason.
Can you explain that more?
Thank a lot .

Hi Julien,
Your english was just perfect ;-). It is thanksgiving holiday here in the USA, but I did want to let you know that we will respond in a few days. Your question is a very good one and we want to take the time to explain it so that you also understand the reasons why. We also just added on the DrRosedale.com site google translate at the bottom of each page, though we apologize to you as well, as it will be a rough translation through google translate but it might help you a little.
Health and happiness,
The Rosedale Team.

Hello Julien. There is no need to apologize for your English. I think it is fantastic, and far better than my French :).
My apologies for getting back to you so late. The holiday are a busy time and my schedule was sort of hectic but I do want to make sure to get your question answered.
In a perfect world, you are correct. There would be no need for supplements. Foods would supply all the nutrients we need to be healthy. Unfortunately the world we live in today is far from perfect. Mass manufacturing, poor farming habits, preservatives, pesticides, and general degradation of the quality of ingredients in foods today make it an impossibility to get all you need from food alone, no matter how well you are able to eat. Of course the diet is the main determinant of your health. All the vitamins in the world will not make up for a poor diet. But even if you are eating well, there will be some nutritional cracks that supplements could help fill.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Best of health,

Dear Julien,
There are many supplements that Dr Rosedale recommends, but for sure magnesium and potassium especially during the first few weeks of you starting the diet and also a good fish oil, preferably in a bottle verses capsules. It would be great for you to read the book 'The Rosedale Diet', as this will answer and explain many questions and it also has a list of the recommended supplements, sources and explanations to what each of them do for you. We are actually formulating our supplements as Dr Rosedale patients loved them before and have never been able to find the same quality and value over the two years that we have not had them available. These supplements make it easy as they combine everything in to 3 easy supplements, we will have them available here in the USA after the new year.
Also, to add a little more to your first question regarding why we need to take supplements; the larger picture is also that nature never intended for us to live a long and healthy life post reproduction. However, we of course want to live to a ripe old healthy age with a spring in our step! Alas, this is also where supplementation comes in very helpful.
