comparing various anti-inflammatory food plans
Hi!
Unlike most people who find Rosedale, I'm not overweight (5'6" 128-pound female, age 35). However, years ago I was a victim of the 'freshman 15', and I was lucky enough to come across The Zone, which was an extremely controversial option back in those days/years. I lost weight and have maintained it by avoiding most starch and sugar.
More recently, I learned I carry the brca2 mutation, and I became interested in low-carb plans not for aesthetic reasons but cancer prevention. I've experimented with Perricone, Mercola, Zone, and Rosedale. Are there any advantages to Rosedale over the others when it comes to cancer prevention??
Thanks!
Katherine

There are huge and very critical advantages to following my program over the others. I was the first to recommend a low carbohydrate diet that also limited protein consumption, therefore specifically recommending a high-fat diet over a low carbohydrate, higher protein diet. This is extremely important when it comes to cancer. I just gave a talk at a major cancer conference concerning this. Excess protein not only increases IGF, a powerful growth factor for cancer, but also is the main stimulus to increase mTOR that plays a very powerful role in cancer. We will be posting this talk and PowerPoint shortly. In the meantime you should look at "Protein, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly that is currently posted on our site, and where I introduced mTOR to the medical community a number of years ago.

Thanks for getting back so quickly! I'm excited to learn more about the biological mechanisms. I have one more question, then I'll leave you alone. Since I'm active and slim, I feel like I need slightly more carbs than your initial phase recommends. Am I correct in understanding the maintenance level as including roughly 1 serving of berries and 2-3 small servings of high fiber grains? I definitely think the Zone was way too high in fruit.
I think I already wrote a positive review for your book on Amazon. Thanks for your service to the medical and health communities.

Dear Katherine,
There really is no need for the grains, though you can up your good fats in take like coconut oil. Also, would you mind if I could make your great question public? We always maintain your email address as private.
