I am 76..
Dear Dr Rosedale
I am 76 years old and my doctor told that I don't have any hormones left so
don't expect to lose much weight -- that was very upsetting. I am in good
health and young looking for my age. But I am about 25-30 lbs overweight.
My blood pressure is a little high at 70/140, my cholesterol is on the high
side but my LDL's are very high so my doctor doesn't seem concerned. I've
never been a sweet eater but I do have hypoglycemia so I have to be careful
when and if I do eat a sweet to cushion the effects of my blood sugar
dropping with protein. Most of my life I've been mostly a vegetable and
protein eater but I just eat too much of it at one time. I have cut out
everything that your diet suggests in the way of carbohydrates including
bread and fruit and occasionally pasta and I am very tired all day long. I
was tired before I went on this diet but it is worse now. I take my
vitamins plus coq10, fish oil, lutein (bad eyes run in my family) magnesium
and a probiotic. I force myself to walk 2 miles almost every day.
What can I do to get more energy and will this diet work for me at my age?
Thank you
Luci

Hi Luci,
Dr. Rosedale is in his writing cave right now but once a week he does try to answer some of the questions but he does start with the ones market public first as many other people learn from his answer. Your email will always remain private, please let me know if it is ok for me to change your question to public so that we can try to get your question answered sooner.
Best of health,
Fiona

hi fiona
sure, that would be fine. also, i would like to add another concern of
mine, if that would ok. since i am hypoglycemic, i am unable to go through
the night without eating something (small of course). so, i have been
having a bite of some protein before i go to bed and it usually gets me
through the night. i know that by doing that i foul up the process of
losing weight that dr rosedale describes in his book. does anyone have any
suggestions? thank you
luci

Hi Luci,
Good the supplements you are taking but want to make sure you are also taking potassium as well as a good fish oil that has been stored and sold in a glass bottle, capsules sold in a plastic bottle will more likely be rancid unless it is krill oil.

Hi lucille
I really don't have an answer to your question but I would like to commend you on your effort to be 76 years young — I enjoy seeing us seniors wanting to have a healthier life — we have much to offer to the generation coming behind us.
Hope all goes well for you,
Ken

Hi Luci
I have been been using Dr. Ron's Plan since June 2012 and I see it as a miracle. I have been able to get completely off all meds & injections for type2 diabetes. I have dealt with high blood pressure since 1988 - been on all kind of meds for that but my blood pressure was never able to be controlled over all those years and the many combinations of drugs did little to nothing, I am now off all those BP meds as well. I was also having liver problems which has cleared up. My weight went from 232 lbs on a 5' 10' medium frame - I am now at 170 lbs - that is a 62 pound loss.
I feel great!! and have plenty of engery now.
Hang in there, let your body get used to the adjustments that it may not have known.
Bless Ya,
Ken
