5-months in and going strong!

I began the diet in the middle of September 2012 and weighed in at 237 pounds.

Today, I'm down 3 almost 4 pant sizes and weigh in at 185.

I went on Thursday to get my fasting blood work completed - and took 'what to test' directly from the book - so I could see how my body is going now that I'm stabilizing.

However, this seems to be a good time to review my current food plan - it has come into a pretty consistent rhythm:

Morning / breakfast - one of the following:
1) Egg - over medium on mana from heaven bread - 2 times per week
2) Atkins protein shake or cashew, blueberry, whey protein shake.
3) dunkin donuts ham, egg, cheese wake up wrap.
4) cup of coffee each morning

Snack - one of the following:
1) Nutella mix
2) Atkins snack bar
2) Handful of nuts

Lunch - one of the following:
1) grilled chicken salad with light Italian
2) baked chicken
3) Atkins meal bar (rarely - one per two-weeks)
4) Wendy's Hamburger with lettuce & tomato - no bun (rarely - once per month)

Dinner - a combination of the following:
1) fish every meal - salmon, tuna, cod, talaria, lobster, shrimp, etc
2) double serving of vegetable - broccoli, green beans, esperagus, etc
2) a steak once per two weeks - roughly

I have an alcoholic beverage per day - a glassof wine, etc.

The only 'cheat' I allow myself is the occasional coke zero with some jack Daniels....

There is little variety or deviation from the above.

So, my question then lies:
I'm aware that my protein intake shouldn't be 'too high' and I do not believe that it is. What should I be paying the 'closest' amount of attention to? Protein intake? Total Carb intake? Now that I"ve reached an equilibrium I want to know what I should be paying attention to while 'sustaining' this lifestyle forever!

    Hi William

You ask: What should I be paying the 'closest' amount of attention to? Protein intake? Total Carb intake?

    • my answer is both.

    • I personally stay within the 40g to 60g range in protein per 24 hr.

    • As far as carbs go, I try to eliminate as much as I can, for me the least the better

One more quick question - I started using the 'myfitnesspal' application on my iphone to track my Proteins.

I notice that my caloric intake is 'low' by normal standards. I'm only at about 1,000 - 1,500 calories per day.

My protein is good, my fats are good, but - calories, calcium, and potassium are 'low' by the applications standard.

Should I be concerned at all with my calories? I didn't get the impression from the book that this mattered much. But, I figured I would ask.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the update.. How do you feel? This is the main indicator, as Dr. Ron always says you have no idea how much you are really eating at any one time.. if you ate through your mouth 1200 calories and your cells were able to access your stored fat and ate another 2500 calories of stored fat then how many calories did you really have? You can tell if you are having enough otherwise you might feel tired, weak, etc then one would uptake your fat. You get enough calcium from all kinds of things so you never want to add to that as it can then become detrimental. We do supplement with magnesium and potassium. Actually I am working with someone now to see if we can possibly create a Rosedale version of myfitnesspal, I did reach them direct but after 4 months of trying I gave up. It would be super great to have a Rosedale version that would also help people calculate their needed protein intake as well. We will keep you posted.
