High fat, low protein, low carb vegan the most ideal diet? some questions..
I've been paleo before, but broke out in bad acne from all the meat consumption, and I've been raw vegan and saw my acne disappear, but lost too much weight, as I'm too skinny as it is. I've been researching and looking for the most ideal diet.
From my understanding
- Protein raises IGF-1 according to Fontana study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2673798/
- Soy protein also raises IGF-1, but unlike animal protein, it also raises IGF binding proteins, which protects you against cancer and negative effects of IGF-1 - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17571965
- Low IGF-1 levels leads to Alzheimer in men - http://www.endo-society.org/media/press/2012/Alzheimers-Disease-in-...
Therefore getting lots of fats from Avocados, Nuts, Seeds, Olives, and Coconuts, and proteins from lentils, legumes, and spinach?
I have some questions maybe Dr.Rosedale could answer:
- What are ideal IGF-1 levels/numbers?
- How low is too low for IGF-1?
- Do all plant proteins raise IGF binding proteins, rather than just soy?
- Should one get proteins from vegetables to maintain IGF-1 levels in order to prevent cognitive disease, as vegetable proteins don't have the same effect as animal proteins?
Thanks

There is a study that just came out that we will forward over to you after Dr. Ron completes his reviews of it. Regarding your referenced study that low IGF-1 levels leads to Alzheimer in men has been shown to be incorrect. It is not the level of IGF1 but the part that is not bound as you are aware of, so it is not a really simple short answer. Also, it is not a complete protein from vegetables, and your prior high protein as you figured it not good either. Cognitive disorders are more caused from the brain burning glucose.

Hey it's me again,
Just saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv-M-5-s9B0, seems like Dr. Rosedale changed his stance a little after 3 years.
I hope he writes a newer book, I would definitely be interested in reading it and all the latest research.
Cheers,

Dr. Rosedale is nearing the publishing of new material, to my understanding there are 3 new books coming our way - there is no exact date when this publication will be available but you can Sign Up to be notified when this takes place. Again, all who sign up will be notified.
