Water
I drink atleast a gallon of water every day, but I seem to constantly be thirsty. I don't drink anything else, and I rarely use salt. (Only if I really crave it) Is this normal, something I should worry about, or am I doing something wrong?

No, this does not sound normal. Dr. Rosedale said, you should get a urinalysis (common lab test of urine).

Since this is water related i figured I'd just add on and not create a new thread.
My wife always had a problem retaining too much water. Since starting the diet it seemed to go away however now that its getting hot and humid outside, it has returned. Its still better than it was pre diet however her hands and feet are getting a bit puffy.
Overall the diet seems to be helping but do you or the doc have any ideas to what would be causing it and or suggestions how possibly reduce it even more?

Karyn,
Also, wanted to add also get your blood sugar checked.
Kurchy,
I will ask Dr. Rosedale when I next see him if he has any other ideas. Thanks for reading and adding to similar questions, really makes it easy for others to follow and learn. Hope all is going well.

Kurchy,
Dr. Rosedale always tries to answer all the questions, but your question he could not, as it would need to be followed with a lot more questions, which would then be more like a treatment, which we cannot do over the web.

No problem I understand, figured it was worth a shot. As you know most doctors seem to be rather clueless in these type of things and I've had no luck so far. Does he maybe have any ideas where i could start maybe things i can read up on. Or perhaps just a few possibilities i could explore on my own, as right now i'm not sure where to even start as the only answer we get is take some water pills. If not i understand, thanks again for trying, at least the diet is making it a bit more bearable for her.

Kurchy; The Rosedale diet lowers insulin levels which reduces fluid retention. If there is still excess fluid, this can be caused by multiple factors including excess cortisol, antidiuretic hormone, etc. and then we are getting into the realm of individualized patient treatment. Glad that you have already seen the benefits of the program.

Thanks much for the reply, I will read up more on cortisol and antidiuretic. I know you can't treat over the web but could you maybe suggest what to get her tested for or something i could tell a local doctor to look into to get them in the right direction, since I've had no luck with them so far. The diet has helped more than anything so far, as now it only seems to come when the weather turns very hot and humid. Thanks again for taking time to reply and for all the great research you've done over the years, can't wait for the updated book. :)

It is not a case of giving some directions, as there are no hard set rules, then it would be only half of the process. It would often take lots of questions, looking at the patient, then from there some tests. Often something totally different might come up that Dr. Rosedale finds, that no one even suspected. Most times, when getting down to the core of an issue, the symptoms are just that, symptoms that most would think are totally unrelated to the cause. That is why, even with the skeleton outline of what tests, those test results would then not be read in the maner they should, and thus the whole point would be lost. So, when Dr. Ron mentioned that it would have to be a treatment, it is only because he could never give an outline of what to do, that would almost be like trying to explain in writing how to figure out the rubrics cube, it would all depend, one step that leads to the next step, each piece is just as important to uncovering the whole truth, missing anyone of those steps the full picture will be lost. So, it is not as simple, and he would do you a great dis-service to just give you a list of tests to you, knowing that things would be misread and that would then only send you totally down the wrong path, and worse still, a path that you felt Dr. Ron actually put you on. I have said so many times, I wish we could clone Dr. Ron, or better still I wish we had found a whole bunch of doctors that treat patients the same way, but sadly that has not happened, yet. Hope you understand.
Fiona and Dr. Ron.

Thanks for your input Ken, so now are you still on any BP drugs or were you able to get off them?
