I've seen Dr. Rosedale mention replenishing good bacteria/gut flora - but I can't seem to find how this is done or what products are recommended. Any suggestions?

    Dear Rachel,

There is a whole process that happens before getting to the point of adding maybe some probiotics etc. In the past when Dr. Ron has treated a patient he would take a whole history, and depending on that history, for example if the patient had taken in the past lots of antibiotics, and depending on the symptoms then he might request the patients have labs done on their stool to see what good and bad bacteria they have, and from there it can be determined if anything needs to be done. There might be too much yeast growth and/or bad bacteria that first needs to be treated before any good bacteria can be introduced. The gut is the root cause of many issues, autoimmune diseases originate from an unhealthy gut.

    Hi Fiona,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to me. I did see the discussion you referenced already, and it didn't sit well with me because it seems counterintuitive to take antibiotics to treat a digestive/flora issue. Don't get me wrong, I understand full well what candida is and its impact, but I figured that cutting sugars and limiting proteins may be enough to fend off this pathogenic bacteria so that healthy bacteria can then take its place.

Based upon what Dr. Rosedale has said about antibiotics, I'd have assumed he would advise a different approach to the Dr. Hyman in your referenced video.

Edit: In my email I received a "recommended" video; I thought you'd posted it in response to my question, but it appears it was just autoafically included, probably as a "related" article? Anyway, that's what I'm referencing when I referred to Dr. Hyman!

You are correct, Dr. Ron in very few cases and only as a last resort will he recommend antibiotics. If someone has some major gut issues he often will want them to do a stool test so that he can see exactly the good, bad and the ugly to know the best way to treat, sometimes it often might be just taking some good probiotics, other times a nystatin might be needed to clear any yeast build up, and then followed by probiotics. Thanks for letting me know about the recommendation link, I will check in to that.

    Best of health.

This was really helpful; I was fully prepared to take the antibiotics should that be his routine procedure, despite not liking the idea, simply because as you know better than anyone, he's brilliant.

I do have autoimmune (Sjogren's) as well as several other ailments, all seemingly stemming from my gut issues (and what I fed my gut for most my life). I will give the diet at least 6 months, while taking a probiotic, to see if I make improvements. Otherwise, I may look into the Nystatin.

If Dr. Rosedale ever begins seeing patients again (even via phone), please add me to the waiting list. I'm 24 and would like to live at least twice this long! :) But I realize his message is best spread via lectures and appearances. Perhaps you could plant the seed in his mind to write about the candida/gut flora on his blog?

Thanks again. Dr. Rosedale and his whole team deserve much more recognition than has been given thus far. It's a shame you've all been doing this for 20+ years and studies are still being published as "new science", when they're things Rosedale has been touting fot decades. Ridiculous.

    Dear Rachel,
Thank you.. Dr Ron reads all of these messages as well and it means a lot to hear people recognize his work. So many times his work has been copied and then written about in books as their own work with no credit where credit is due, one author actually transcribed several of Dr. Ron's talks and put them almost verbaten in his own book with no reference to Dr. Ron at all. He is brilliant, and I am so honored to be able to see first hand what he does for people, people who had issues and incurable diseases for decades he has been able to turn their lives around, so many that would have otherwise been dead today if it were not for Dr. Ron's help. Thank you for recognizing that Dr. Ron was the first in many cases, and it is a shame that such greatness is not respected by all. I really want Dr. Ron to do a blog on gut health, as it is so important, and there are just no doctors out that treating it correctly. At least if people can have the knowledge to know what to tell their doctors they need, it will be a step in the right direction, though even getting a stool test, doctors read the results wrong.. ;-(.

    Thank you again.
