Hello. I was wondering if it is o.k. to ingest healthy oils such as olive oil, macadamia nut oil, grapeseed oil, etc by the tablespoon to get plenty of good fats in my system. Thank you for your reply!

Sounds like a great idea, just would not use grapeseed as it is too high in omega 6's. MCT's and coconut oil are great options as well. You will be getting great oils in nuts and avocado as well.

    Best of health.

Fiona, thanks so much for your reply. A chiropractic neurologist, who
practices functional neurology, had told me that getting too much of
good fats was a bad thing because an excess of it would turn to
sugar. I suppose that is only if you are mixing it with carbs. One
more thing. I suffer from insomnia and chronic anxiety, mainly during
the middle of the night. The oils seem to calm my nervous system
down. Is it o.k. to take the oils by themselves at say 3 a.m...???
Also I am a bit foggy this a.m....what might MCT's be?
Best to you and please know how much I appreciate your insight.

    Dear Susan,

You are correct, it is not a good idea to load up on good oils if you are still loading up on carbs, as the oils will not get burned as fuel but rather would get stored. However, if you are following Dr. Rosedale's plan and not really taking in carbs, then taking in the extra oils if fine. Again, taking in the oils is a way to give you energy and to help you to not be hungry, so use it as appropriate. Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT's) you can buy at most health food stores, that or coconut oil, the both have similar makeup.

    Keep up the good work.
