Hi Dr. Rosedale: MY HB1AC is 6.1 is that okay or too high. I have been using full fat dairy but it does not seem to agree with me.

Dr. Rosedale is traveling right now, so I can only say from other patients that often on the diet your HBA1C will probably come down a little more over time. Full fat diary is not a requirement at all, so if it does not agree with you then please don't have it. If you only have the right amount of protein and some good fats, this would keep you going in great form! Add in some veggies just for variety if you like.

Wishing you the best of health.

Hi Fiona, thanks for your response. With regards to coconut oil i have been only using that and has seen a rise in my cholesterol level of 353. Can you comment on this!

We have not heard of anyone else's cholesterol going up on coconut oil. One point that Dr. Ron makes in all of his interviews and with patients, is that the total cholesterol really does not matter it is the particle size that one should be focused on, large and fluffy is great, small not so good. The test is called a VAP cholesterol.

    Best of health.

Hi Fiona, thanks for your response. Since i started the low carbohydrate diet my cholesterol did went up from 220 to 300 plus. I have added coconut oil in my diet and i use full fat cream in my tea. Could it be the full fat cream that is sending it up. I am only using maybe to tablespoon a day i think. Any thoughts on this will help.

What happens when people go on this diet is that the particle size of the cholesterol gets larger, which is good. Like I said the number is quiet irrelevant unless you are up very high around 500-600.. as then there is something else going on. When I check my numbers I do not even check the so called 'good' and 'bad' cholesterol, I only check the size by doing a VAP.
