ALA and amalgam fillings
Hi Fiona,
I was reading that ALA (RLA) is a very potent antioxidant. Then I
was in a forum and read where it is dangerous to take this if you
have amalgam fillings - which I have. Now I'm nervous about taking
the RLA. Do you think it would be safe to take if I don't take
excessive amounts?
Thank you so much for any advice you can give.

I have not heard that taking ALA (RLA) is a problem with amalgam fillings. However, your focus should be on finding a dentist that can remove your amalgam fillings properly.
Best of health.

Thank you for getting back to me. Here is the link that talked about the ALA: http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=88...
I don't think that at my age I will have my fillings removed. But maybe in the future removing them will be an option for me.
Take care.

How old are you?

:) It won't sound old - 62. I was thinking about what I wrote earlier and I think there are a couple of other things keeping me from exploring this option. My husband is a year or so from retirement so I'm thinking about the financial cost of removing them. And also we have gone to the same family dentist for almost 20 years. He's a good friend after all these years and I know he doesn't believe there is a reason to remove them.
I have so many articles showing why we need to get them out. I will go over them again with my husband and I found some dentists who perform this procedure in our town so I might call and ask about the cost. Maybe it won't be as bad as I'm thinking.
