arachidonic acid
just wondering your opinion of floyd chilton's ideas regarding
avoiding egg yolk, turkey and chicken to avoid creating more
negative inflammatory messengers from these foods that are high in
arachidonic acid.
thank you, cindy in california

Hi Cindy,
I am sitting with Dr. Ron right now and read out your question, all I can say is he shook his head in frustration..... He totally disagrees.
Wishing you the best of health.

ok....thank you....i just read "inflammation nation" by dr. floyd
chilton. he is the one who talks about this. lots of conflicting
info for us consumers. it's trial and error. thanks...cindy

So true. It is good that you are reading and educating yourself and not just being a sheep lead by pharma ;-). High leptin is a prominent cause of inflammation, reduce your leptin and that will give you the biggest results. You can only reduce leptin with diet. Eating anything adds some detriment to the body, so choosing your foods carefully and sticking with it is your best bet. Many people get distracted with all the different ideas out there. I read so much of what what out there, but for me Rosedale was the only one that seemed to have the answers that made sense, and the science and studies that backed it up. I now also have the benefit of seeing first hand the miraculous improvements in his patients that have come to us after trying many other programs and all seeing results they were never able to achieve before.
Good luck.

i am 65. have had chronic pain for 4 years and i take 3-1/2 percocet/
day (5-325). i hate taking these opiates but i can't stand the pain.
i have lumbar disk disease and pretty bad stenosis. i think they are
causing my CRP to be 8.1, either that or the arthritis i have in all
my joints. it's all a mess. just trying to feel better. i was a
runner for 30 years, and an ovo-lacto vegetarian all my life. i did
eat chicken until reading chilton's book. i have stopped eggs and
poultry. am taking his supplements -- fish oil with 2:1 balance EPA /
DHA, and borage oil to provide GLA. he has lots of research to support
him.
andrew weil says the same thing about peanuts. i will stop peanut
butter. that's easy. giving up sprouted bread (no flour) is the hard
part.
i have never been able to do a low/no carb diet. i always feel
horrible on them and give up after 3-4 days. i tried atkins several
times. i am 25 lbs. overweight, A1c 6.3, fasting sugars around 100.
i had a good balance going for years, always felt good, had good
health. lost it when i got this pain. i surely appreciate the input
you have sent me. i am searching and will read dr. rosedale's book.
very motivated to get my A1c down (it's 6.3) and also my CRP (it's 8.1).
thank you, cindy

What is happening to you today was brought on by what you have done the last 30 years. You will not get better without following a low carb diet. You will need to go through a transition period, like any addiction it is hard to break so there will be a few days where you might feel not your best, but to us the choice is clear as day, keep the pain you have which will get worse or break through the transition period, become a fat burner and watch your numbers come down. Omega 6's including GLA can become very pro inflammatory secondary to increased delta 6 desaturase brought upon by increasing insulin secondary to starches and other forming starches.
Best of health.

ok, thank you fiona. all good food for thought. yes, i am going to
cut out carbs. i know it's the right thing. and maybe the borage oil
too, since that is GLA's. thanks...cindy
