Hi
I am a 59 year old male and suffer from osteoporosis .I am 1.70 meters tall and weigh 69 kilos.  I have been taking calcium and vitamin d for the past 9 years but to no avail. I get a bone density test each year and each year I have a worse score.
In your interview you said that I should be getting a protein matrix. What is this and in what foods is it found? Is there anything else I should be taking.
I have started eating a can of sardines every day. Is that recommended? I am partictularly worried about the oil that the fish are preserved in.That can't be healthy and the fish absorb it.  I also try to eat other foods that are high in calcium content  I also eat a lot of nuts and fruits and vegetables.

Respectfully Yours

    Dear Joseph,

Thank you for your message; it is wonderful that you are exploring other options. Contrary to all that medicine might be teaching everyone, eating calcium will not make your bones stronger and having a higher bone density score will only give you very brittle bones that will shatter into a million pieces, as what you really want is stronger bones. There are many interviews recorded that we have on our blog, here is one http://drrosedale.com/blog/2011/11/20/death-by-calcium-why-calcium-... but just put in calcium into the search and you will find many others. You will quickly learn most of what Dr. Ron would recommend you to do. Once you have listened and read the 3 or so articles and if you still have questions let us know. Though it is impossible to treat someone over the web with one simple question and answer. Each time Dr. Ron treats someone he looks at the whole picture. For example maybe you are taking statins, or beta blockers which are stopping you from burning fat, which means that when you are sleeping your body will be taking the needed protein from your muscle and bone. So, Dr. Ron might give you all the answers of what to do to get strong bones and it still would not work unless he knew all of the details to treat and remove the other obstacles that are standing in your way, that you, and most doctors might think have nothing to do with having stronger or weaker bones.

Wishing you the best of health.

    Hi
Wow. Thanks for the quick reply
I understand that it would be impossible to treat someone via e mail but if you can I would really like an answer to two questions. I live in Israel and don't have any plans to visit the states soon.

    1. Is eating sardines in oil ( I am wary of the oil) or any other natural source of calcium every day recommended?

    2. What are the alternatives you recommend for building bones?  You metenioned protein matrix in the interview.

    Thanks

    Hi Joseph
Oil can be your best friend or your worst enemy. On the website the oils good and bad are mentioned. So sardines in olive oil would be a fantastic healthy. Though if you have oils and carbohydrates is not so good. Follow the Rosedale diet by cutting carbs and oils will be able to be used as fuel.
