Note
Hello,
At age 57 I am normal weight and exercise moderately with variety 6
days a week. I crave and eat huge quantities of refined-sugar (and
caffeine) at every meal, but very low amounts of fat except from the
refined-sugar products. I see this is the lease desirable of the fats.
My major complaint is tooth decay, but my "good" cholesterol has also
been low for years. One week ago I had a vague, nagging dread and
Googled' "sugar craving" + "diet" and "Rosedale" came up at or near the
top of the first page of results.
That was a week ago. I purchased and have been reading the book and
read most of the website and some of the blog. I have been eating
within the dietary guidelines for 5 days and have no major problems. I
see some complaints of constipation posted on the web, but I have
always eaten large quantities of frozen vegetables now without the
sugary dressing. My blood sugar is falling into the top of the normal
range already. I think I get it.
My wife is 55, BMI of 27, and diabetic with average blood sugar in the
330's. Her eating has had all of the hallmarks of compulsive and/or
addictive behavior. She follows exactly in her fathers footsteps whose
is type 2 diabetic with dementia and 70% loss of heart function. She
just started reading your book as I write this.
We have tried several diets together and both dropped out after awhile.
The scientific rationale applies to both of us even though we have
divergent problems, experiences, and successes. We both have advanced
degrees so the medical argument is important.
We both would have described her food compulsions as revolving around
fat. After this week I see that there is always a major carbohydrate.
For instance, I couldn't see the starchy baked potato as the problem
when all I could see, literally, was the cheese, sour cream, and
butter. We both assumed that the fat was her objective. She is still
reading.
It would be interesting to see what tweaks would be necessary to make
each major school of "dieting" conform to your guidelines. I might
take a look at that later.
She is still reading and we had a brief, positive chat about it a
minute ago. She said this is very similar to her father's medically
restricted diet which has worked very well. Unfortunately his dementia
is permanent.
Thanks for reading. I write to share my thoughts and also to organize
and understand new things. I think the market is ready for the second
Rosedale book or a JAMA or other peer-reviewed journal article, maybe.
All for now.

Dear Steve,
Thank you so much for your message. We are so thrilled you have found Dr. Rosedale and very soon this will be we hope your standard way of eating. To ease your transition to becoming fat burners please make sure you take at the minimum some magnesium, potassium and some fish oil preferably in the bottle as most capsules in plastic bottles are rancid. Dr. Ron is working on 3 other books that we are so very excited about. Keep up the great work and keep us posted on your progress.
Best of health.
