<p>It does not effect insulin or leptin directly. Taking D-ribose
will not get into the cell. Benfotiamine, a fat soluble form of
thiamine that converts glucose into ribose intracellularly, and
then the ribose itself is a great substrate for RNA (and other
important intracellular molecules, and is a much better option in
my opinion. Benfotiamine helps to reduce intracellular glycation
unlike D-ribose.</p>

<p>It seems that D ribose lowers blood sugar, but raises insulin
moderately (I don't know why Dr. Rosedale said it didn't).<br>
It just seems to not increase pancreatic insulin, but it does
increase overall insulin.</p>
<p>I happen to see a lot of studies regarding D ribose showing this
effect over and over. For most people, the insulin increase is
insignificant comparing to their sugar consumption, so the energy
& cardio benefit are worth it…</p>
<p>-- but those who follow the Rosedale diet are compromising their
goals.</p>
<p>In addition, diabetics and those with high blood glucose respond
stronger to D ribose with insulin secretion. Which further proves
the point that those who benefit from Rosedale diet should be
careful with D ribose.</p>
<p>It could be the reduction in blood sugar will overcompensate the
insulin secretion with the health benefits, but it is unlikely.
This is worrying and Dr. Rosedale will tell you that insulin is
much more important than blood sugar.</p>
<p>I support Dr. Rosedale preference to benfotiamine as a way to
increase ribose concentration within the cell. You will receive the
benefits without the risk assuming you are following Rosedale
diet.</p>
<p>Others may benefit from direct supplementation with D

ago.<br>
I found it gave me an energy crash shortly after... like it was
sugar.<br>
I felt so tired.. i wanted to get in bed. I haven't used it

D-ribose is very important to me having any energy. Also liquid magnesium both have transformed my life. I do more in a hour than I did in a week before those two. For me it feels worth if it knocks me out of ketosis. Stuck constantly tired is no way to live.
