Rosedale Diet for Low Estrogen & Insulin Resistance
Hi,
I am so excited about Dr. Rosedale' upcoming new book. I've already preordered it on Amazon. A section on female hormones in it or another book would be of great interest to me - and others, I imagine.
My question:
It is my understanding that moderate/low protein diets can tell the body that resources are limited. And so I'm wondering, as a female struggling with amenorrhea for 8+ months (I've only just started with the Rosedale diet) and 20 to 21% body fat, if I need to increase my protein from the recommended .75 per kg of lean mass recommendation so that my body doesn't continue to think it is in starvation mode? I'd like to have a period without taking estrogen. Prior to starting the Rosedale diet, my leptin was 3 and estrogen was very low (10).
If I need to gain fat, I am willing to do that, but I'm not sure how to gain fat without it all going to my middle section. Does fiber cause some folks to gain weight around the middle?
The other challenge with gaining weight is that I have PCOS - even though I am thin. My alpha-hydroxybuterate was high, indicating insulin resistance. So, I'm afraid of exacerbating the insulin resistence by eating carbs - even if they are fiber.

Jessica
Dr. Rosedale has closed his private practice and no longer accepts patients nor doing any consulting at this time.
He would need to examine you to find out what is going on.
Dr. Rosedale may reply in some manner but do not count on him doing so.
