Dr. Rosedale's diet and Pca
Hi,
I recently read a transcription of a Dr. Rosedale talk, 'Insulin and Its Metabolic Effects." My question is about IGF-1, insulin and Pca. I notice that Dr. Rosedale recommends "Paneer" which is an Indian dairy cheese roughly equivalent to Western cottage cheese, but without the salt. In my readings of the literature regarding diet and prostate cancer, a number of studies come out against the inclusion of dairy products because of the natural hormones in even so-called "organic" milk which may encourage the growth of human hormones such as estrogen.
Another issue is nut butters. How is one to eat nut butters without some kind of carbohydrate on which to spread them?
I bring these two issue up because on a low carbohydrate-higher fat diet (miniminal saturated fats) I have been losing weight. I understand that thin is not necessarily bad, however, too thin (I currently weigh around 129 lbs on a medium frame) is not good either. So how does one maintain, or even increase weight on Dr. Rosedale's diet?
Finally, I know from reading the transcription of the speech that insulin and IGF-1 are involved in inflammation which seems to be the base cause of most disease, but does Dr. Rosedale have anything in specifically to say about diet and prostate cancer? If so, I would certainly like to read about it. Thank you.
Best wishes,

The diet is wonderful for prostate cancer. Dr. Rosedale is traveling right now, but will see what information we can send you regarding prostate cancer. Gaining weight, just eat more fat. The biggest issue with enzymes is aromatase which turns testosterone into estrogen and is promoted by high leptin. The most important thing is to get your leptin low. Almond butter, you can toast some of the la tortilla tortillas, low carb version, or celery sticks.
Best of health.

Just thought I'd share my 2cents worth. Raw broccoli dipped in almond butter or cashew butter is great. As for getting too thin just make sure to get enough protein and do some basic resistance training, 20min 2x a week. Just simple things like pushups and squats but nice and slow and the fat you lost will be replaced with lean muscle, don't worry you won't look like a body builder either :). You'll look and feel much better as i had the same issue and that has worked great for me.

Great point about the little bit of a work out can go a long long way, thanks Kurchy.
