I am having a lot of trouble with my gall bladder, and it's going to have
to come out. I have been hearing a lot of stories of people gaining excess
weight around their mid section. If I stick to this diet can I avoid this,
and should I take bile salts and B12 as some suggest, to aid in breaking
down foods.

I have already purchased your book, and love it, thank you.

Regards
Beth

    Dear Beth,

sorry to hear your news about your gall bladder. I asked Dr. Ron and this was his reply.

The diet will still work very well for you in the long term. Initially the only foods you will not be able to break down as well will be fat and for that you can take lipase which will help.

Also make sure you take some of the supplements which will aid in a speedy recovery after the surgery; magnesium, potassium, a good multi that includes zinc, fish oil - preferably liquid in a bottle as so many of the capsules are rancid.

Also right after surgery they will want to feed you a bunch of sugar, don't go there as this is a time that you really want to be strict with your diet, the Rosedale Diet will aid amazingly in a speedy recovery.

This is a great question, would you mind if I can make it public so others can learn? your email address will always remain private, but your name will be at the top.

    Best of health.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

I don't have a problem, making my question public, I would love to hear if
anyone has had the same problem and how they dealt with it.

    Thank you again

I am new to this diet and have been a healthy eater for many years but have had a number of health issues. I can never seem to get things in balance. I have had a few surgeries, hysterectomy, gall bladder, recta seal, ovaries out, and I think it is a shame that we don't know the way to good health before we lose so many body parts.
That said, I did not have problems with fat as a young person (gall bladder out at 31), but I have been having lots of problems as I have gotten older, and with sugar, I tend to get candida a lot.
I would love to find the balance in all this and maintain a healthy into my nineties or older.

    Hi Sharon,

You can find much help in Dr. Rosedale's Book,   it is dated but is still relevant.

I myself am 67 yrs. old and have developed a great diet by using the recommendations in the Rosedale Diet book.

There is much help in our Knowledge Data-Base or Dr. Rosedale's main website   you will need to invest some time but it will be well worth the effort.

The balance you seek can be had.

(PS) Sugar is not a friend

Thank you again and I just finished one of the links you sent me and will look at all of as I can, I
Ken if I may, I am very interested in the test Dr. Ron did for his patients that he said in the recent online presentation I saw, I believe it was an insulin test. Can you tell me if that is it and if I can get this done, where would be a good place to send it to? Does he talk about this in anyof his books? I want as much information as I can get to get me healthy.
I have a very high viral count, epstein barr, cytomegalovirus.
I checked out your before and after pics and you have certainly done well. I feel it is not totally about losing weight though, right? it is about making yourself healthy with the food you eat and lifestyle and your body changing from sick to well. I think if I understood his protocol he would look at the numbers on the labs and know what to do. If he can't see my labs and I am only doing the diet, will I get the results of lower viral count and improved immune system?
I so appreciate your help and your experience with the diet.

You are right losing weight is only part of it - losing weight is usually the most visible thing that takes place. The Diet's underlying theme is better health.

Many people use Lab Corp for testing .

I do not know what his new material entails.

I do know that one's immune system with improve, mine sure has.

I have over-come many things these past 4 years such as, uncontroled high blood pressure for over 28 years (off all meds for that), off all those meds and shots for Type 2 diabetes, much more.

    • I have gotten older but I have gotten older healthier - if not dead already I would most likely have been bed-ridden or in a nursing home.

I can not say what benefits you will enjoy in the days ahead but there will be some.

You are a great writer...dr. R mentioned in the talk we watched that he always ordered some kind of nuclear insulin test...can you ask what that is please?

I might be able to find a lab once I know what it is, and if you can't find it we can look for the talk again to get it.

I do not take any meds thank God, but I have had lots of problems with getting colds, flu, e-coli, viral infections. I would really like for my immune system to get strong.

Does he have a new book coming out? I will order the original like you suggested.

    Thank you,Sharon

I think that Dr. Rosedale is working on 3 new books but the Diet of, (Low Carb, Moderate Protein, High Fat), that is described in the   original Book is the key.

I am not familiar with the nuclear test that you have mentioned, I will see if I can find out about it.

    • Before I began Dr. Rosedale's Diet, I would have 30 to 45 days a year of some kind of really bad cold of one sort or another, winter or summer did not make much difference. One time it was so bad I past out at the Doctor's Office.   I guess it was less than a year, "after starting the Rosedale Diet", that it dawned on me that I hadn't been sick as usual.

There has been a couple times over the past 4 years that I have had the sniffles and I tell ya, that still amazes me.

I am confident that if one follows Dr. Rosedale's recommendations, even if one does not understand all the science behind it, better health is attainable.

Thank you so much. I am wondering if t his malady is a result of being on the diet, albeit still learning, for a week. I feel like a truck ran over me.

I wondered if you had any stomach problems when you started.

Without a gallbladder it's a challenge with fats.

Thanks for being a sounding board...

    Sharon are you diabetic?

What are you eating, any spicy stuff or citric items and what size portions?

    Are you taking any supplements?

No I don't think so. .I was told that I was pre-diabeti at one point.

I don't do any spicy stuff, but my stomach hurts. I have had trouble with digestion.

Portions have come down and we are adopting what we know so far...low protein and carbs. We don't eat any processed foods, but did kind of go overboard with chocolate, and sweets for awhile.

We have dropped all sugar for a week or a little more and we are doing great. I make bone broth, I make sauerkraut, and herbal tonics, we eat himalayan sea salt.. We like the process and I hope it will provide good health for me.

I think the diabetes thing is interesting and I will try to find that test...it could be revealing for me. I'm not but about ten pounds over weight, but like the doc says it's how my body processes the food, and I have had digestive issues always.

    Thanks again,Sharon

Sharon your are encouraged to get with your doctor, let him/her know the problems that you have had.

Dr. Rosedale no longer sees patients since closing his practice some years ago and we can only make some suggestions here at Support. Legal reasons limits what we are able to say. It is sad that things are this way.

    • Dr. Rosedale's Diet is:   Low carb,   Moderate protein,   High fat
