24 urine urea ranges

Hi

Can you check with Dr Rosedale his recomended ranges of 24 hours Urine Urea (for a man)?
assuming men have more protein in their body and thus have a bit higher turnover (and ranges).

   Dr. Rosedale does not normally track urea with a 24 hour urine, he normally does a regular urinalysis to ascertain BUN (blood urea nitrogen).

   So what is the best way to evaluate the exact amount of protein your body actually utilized in a test? it does make sense that some sort of urine protein could be the most accurate. BUN is simply blood test.

   Well.
   Urine is better in order to evaluate the exact amount fo protein your unique body plus lifestyle needs. BUN is somewhat less exact since your kidneys ongoingly tranfer excess urea in your blood to urea in the urine.

   for the ranges. the usual range is 6-17 grams of nitrogen.
   pay attention we are talking about nitrogen, not protein. (nitrogen mass is averaging 16% of protein mass, and 23.3% of urea)

   you shoudn't get zero.
   What happens when you get zero in UUN?
   well, you get it if you basically consume too little protein.
   I mean, the body will break down 0.1*ideal body weight - 2 grams of nitrogen.

   if you get 3-6 you get essential the exact amount of protein you need.
   abouve this level, it means you had extra protein which was converted to energy.
   below, you had so little that your body basically used up the regular amount it supposed to excrete.

   so for a 70-80 kg male, your ideal amount of protein would give you 5-6 grams of urea ntrogen in a 24 hour urine collection. (basically the lower end of the range.)

   That is essentialy the "adequate protein" Dr Ron Rosedale has been talking about in his diet.

   sir what is the method of calculating 24 hrs urine urea.(not urea nitrogen).. The urine microprotein value is 218 mg/dl. The 24 hrs volume of urine is 4800ml. now how wil calculate the 24 hrs urine urea. please tell me as fast as possible...thanking u.

   Dr. Richa,
   In Malaysia, the private lab does Renal Function Test. It includes urea, and others. Urea includes Nitrogen. The technician told me to get BUN simple use the formula.
   Urea (mmol/L divide by 2.14 = BUn, mmol/L. Hope it helps.
