Menopause weight gain
I bought the Rosedale Diet book many years ago and found this plan has worked so well for me. That is until now. I am 56 and have been in menopause for almost a year. In the past 3 months, I have started gaining weight (6 lbs) and it's mostly abdominal fat. I suspect the problem could be low estrogen. Is there a way to tweak the diet or do something to offset this issue and start losing again? This is so frustrating since I have been so successful keeping lean for the last 4 years.

Menopause is defined as the absence of menstrual periods for 12 months. It is the time in a woman's life when the function of the ovaries ceases. Symptoms of menopause can include abnormal vaginal bleeding, hot flashes, vaginal and urinary symptoms, and mood changes. There are lots of natural menopausal supplements available in the market which actually work. I have tried most of those with no success.

Hi Jeanne,
How are you doing? No more than even you really need to stick close with the diet as it can be a slippery slope. If it were me, I would find myself a great naturapath who is an expert on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (this is Fiona speaking, I have not checked with Dr. Ron as he is writing and hibernating trying to get his next book out). I have had many friends and once they balanced their hormones with a little tweak here and there what a difference. Again this is not a doctors recommendation, just my saying if it were me. I am not a doctor ;-)
